I'm not kidding....this is my first official blog post...and I'm really excited about the future! After all, it's a different world and I have seen the light (thanks Perry!). Blogging and social media are not just a fad. They are now an integral part of the new way of doing business...and companies that don't utilize both of these components at the core of their business are going to go the way of the dinosaur...but they will die a much quicker death.
OK...enough about my opinion on the new business era. It's probably like a big "duh" to most of you anyway. The point of this first post is one of transparency and to simply get involved in the conversation and talk about the changes at T-WORX. It's no secret that T-WORX is a well-known DotNetNuke (DNN) skinning provider and developer. But many people have been wondering where we've been hiding recently.
Early on from 2004 to 2005, we released several packaged skins on Snowcovered and t-worx.com...and we were quite successful with them. Since then we've been engaged by many clients for custom skinning and DNN development. We also became involved with WSI - an internet franchise organization. All this has kept T-WORX quite busy. During the last few years, I was a speaker at many DNN events and wrote a book (DotNetNuke Websites Problem-Design-Solution) which was published in August, 2008. That kept me quite busy personally.
So for the past couple of years we've been doing lots of custom DNN work, which took our focus away from creating our own products - mainly the skins we were so successful with in the past - and many people have missed us in that market. However, I'm happy to say that we are moving our focus back to the packaged product model and producing some very cool products called PowerSites. Some of you have been hearing me talk about PowerSites for some time now. And I'm not shy to say that I'm really excited about them. They are exactly what our customers have been asking for and I genuinely think they will help lots of DNN users/developers create great looking DNN sites with very little effort. I know that sounds like a sales pitch but it's something actually believe.
Does this mean we're going to stop creating DNN skins? Absolutely not. Does this mean we're going to stop doing custom DNN development? Heck no. We're going to keep offering the same services we've built our reputation on. But we're going to focus more on producing PowerSites because of the value they provide. The early releases of PowerSites don't include all the pre-configured DNN bells and whistles under the sun. But they do include pre-configured pages with "dummy" content - the layout is done for you. And we've pre-configured some of the most-used DNN modules too - and we're going to keep adding more. So please...have a look around the website and let me know what you think about PowerSites. I welcome your comments.
Oh yeah...and speaking of the website...as you may have already noticed t-worx.com looks a lot different. It has needed an overhaul for quite some time and I'm happy to annouce the latest relaunch which paves the way for lots of great stuff...and this is just the beginning for t-worx.com. Please leave me some comments/suggestions about the new design and content. Like all websites it's a work-in-progess - your comments and feedback will help us make it great.
As I said before, we're in a new era. And with the the help of one of the biggest social media gurus in the world, I have seen the light and the clear path ahead. We've been quietly building out our own social networks and will be connecting with you in a variety of ways including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube just to name a few of the biggies.
So these are exciting times indeed. I look forward to the journey ahead with all of you!
